InHisName United, Inc. is a nonprofit based in Northern Manhattan. Since 2016, InHisName United has had one mission in mind, to promote strength, unity, and independence by improving the quality of life for all members of the community: offering access to an assortment of programs, services, and resources for youth, adult, and seniors. Via the distribution of food and other donations provided by our very thoughtful donors, it is our top priority to make available to every person the simplest of essentials, access to free food. InHisName United has fostered long-standing relationships with many organizations, businesses, community leaders, and law enforcement to secure donations, mostly food, for the residents of the Dyckman Houses and surrounding communities.

 

Aside from securing and making food donations available to the public daily, we have successfully conducted several events to unify our community and encourage togetherness. Some of these events are Holiday Toy Drives, Coat Drives, Easter Egg Hunts, Share-A-Pair Sneaker Drives, Turkey Giveaways, Thanksgiving Dinner Events, and Community Festivals to name a few. As we gain more notoriety, we continue to network with other organizations and obtain innovative ideas for services that we can implement within our and other communities. We have collaborated with Literacy Inc. to ensure books are made available, free of charge, to all youth in the community. With free and readily available reading materials for children and young adults, we ensure we do our part in providing opportunities for our youth to grow into competent readers, ready to succeed in school. We have established a Community Fridge within the Dyckman Houses which makes available ready-to-eat meals, beverages, fruits, vegetables, and canned goods for everyone in the community.
